eRegs v2 Is Here: A Complete Rebuild of the FMCSR Compliance Platform

If you've ever found yourself scrolling endlessly through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations trying to track down one specific clause — or discovered weeks too late that a section your policies depended on had quietly changed — you know the frustration of working without the right tools. That's exactly the problem eRegs was built to solve. And now, with the launch of eRegs v2, Trucksafe's affiliate compliance platform has been rebuilt from the ground up to make that experience dramatically better.

Every change in v2 was driven by feedback from the safety professionals, fleet managers, and compliance officers who use eRegs every day. Here's a full breakdown of what's new and why it matters for your operation.

A Completely Redesigned Reading Experience

The centerpiece of eRegs v2 is a new three-panel layout designed to feel like reading a well-organized reference book — not scrolling through a wall of text.

  • Left panel – Table of Contents: A complete, expandable view of all regulatory Parts, Sub-Parts, and Sections. Drill into exactly what you need and jump to any section with a single click. You always know where you are in the regulation structure.

  • Center panel – Regulation Reader: Clean, readable text with proper formatting of tables, figures, and diagrams. Inline annotation tools let you highlight, take notes, and bookmark without switching screens.

  • Right panel – Insights: Relevant FMCSA guidance, Trucksafe videos, and articles surface automatically based on whatever section you're reading. No more searching separately for interpretations or training content.

Each panel collapses independently so you can focus on just the text or open everything up for deep research. Your layout preferences are saved between sessions. On mobile, the layout adapts automatically — the table of contents becomes a slide-out menu and the reader takes the full screen, whether you're at a desk, reviewing regulations on a tablet in the shop, or checking a section from your phone in the field.

Full-Text Search Across All Content

One of the most frustrating parts of working with the FMCSRs has always been finding things. eRegs v2 solves this with instant full-text search across all regulation text, FMCSA guidance, PHMSA interpretations, and Trucksafe educational content.

  • Type a keyword, phrase, or section number (e.g., "390.5" or "hours of service") and get results in milliseconds

  • Use boolean operators (AND, OR, BUT) to narrow results when you know exactly what you're looking for

  • Results are categorized by type — regulations, guidance, videos, articles — so you can filter to what matters

  • Drivers can search regulation text directly from their devices

No more flipping through pages. Type what you need, find it instantly, and get back to work.

Version History and Change Tracking

This was one of the most requested features from eRegs users — and for good reason. When regulations change, safety professionals need to know exactly what changed, when it changed, and what the text looked like before. Without that visibility, you're left wondering whether your policies, training materials, or procedures are still aligned with current requirements.

eRegs v2 now maintains a complete version history for every regulation section:

  • Point-in-time views: Select any date and see the regulation text exactly as it appeared on that day — invaluable during audits, investigations, or when you need to verify what was in effect at a specific moment.

  • Color-coded inline diffs: Additions show in green, deletions in red, modifications in yellow. No guessing, no comparing PDFs side by side.

  • Activity & Changes feed: A running timeline of all regulation amendments across every covered part — your at-a-glance view of what's been amended recently.

Regulation Change Notifications

Regulation amendments can slip by unnoticed if you're not checking the Federal Register daily. eRegs v2 now automatically notifies you when a regulation section you've annotated — highlighted, noted, or bookmarked — is amended. Push notifications go to your browser or installed app, and you can configure which categories of alerts you receive from your account settings.

The regulations come to you. You stay informed without having to check.

Hazardous Materials Regulations Now Available

Carriers handling hazmat have always needed access to 49 CFR Parts 171–180, but eRegs previously only covered the FMCSRs. That gap is now closed. eRegs v2 adds the Hazardous Materials Regulations as an add-on, with the same reading experience: annotations, search, version history, and inline insights. Hundreds of PHMSA Letters of Interpretation are also included, surfacing automatically as you read — just like FMCSA guidance does for Parts 390–399.

The Hazmat add-on is available for $5/month or $50/year on any plan.

Simplified Driver Access and Fleet Management

Managing driver access at scale has historically been a headache. eRegs v2 addresses this with several major improvements:

Passwordless Driver Access

Drivers no longer need a username and password. Fleet managers invite drivers by name and email; drivers receive a one-tap link, acknowledge the regulations, and their device is authorized automatically. On shared tablets, drivers simply select their name from a list. Zero friction for drivers, fewer support calls for fleet managers, and a more secure system.

Bulk Driver Management

Fleet managers can now bulk import drivers via CSV, use multi-select actions to archive, remove, or assign drivers to groups, and download acknowledgement receipts as a ZIP file for an entire group or selection. Managing large driver rosters is now minutes, not hours.

Tablet Mode for Shared Devices

For fleets using shared tablets in the cab, v2 includes a dedicated Tablet Mode with one-tap driver switching. No passwords, no logging out — purpose-built for slip-seat operations and shared equipment.

Enterprise Accounts

Larger fleets with multiple terminals can now set up Enterprise accounts with multiple manager seats, driver groups organized by terminal or region, and volume pricing for driver invites at scale. Contact the eRegs team directly for details.

The Native Apps Are Being Replaced by a Progressive Web App

The old iOS and Android native apps are being retired. eRegs v2 is now a Progressive Web App (PWA) — installed directly from your browser, with no app store required. Here's why that's an upgrade:

  • Always up to date: Every time you open eRegs, you have the latest version — no waiting for app store updates to roll out.

  • Works offline: Download any regulation part for reading without an internet connection. Critical for drivers in areas with unreliable cell service.

  • Works everywhere: iPhone, Android, tablets, laptops, desktops. One app, every device.

  • Installs in seconds: Open eregs.app in your browser, tap "Add to Home Screen," and you're done.

Other Notable Updates

  • Dark Mode: Available across the entire app, including the reader, annotations, search, and fleet dashboard. Toggle it on from account settings.

  • Improved Regulation Tables: Tables in Parts 393, 395, and 396 now include horizontal scroll hints and a full-screen expand option for easier reading on phones and tablets.

  • Fleet Manager Dashboard: A single interface for monitoring account details, billing activity, and subscription settings.

  • Help Center: 26 articles organized across 6 categories, searchable and accessible from anywhere in the app.

  • In-App Support Tickets: Submit support requests with screenshots directly from inside eRegs and track their status without leaving the platform.
