Hi, my name is Matt, I just started working for a small (under 20 trucks) but growing trucking company (Kole Trucking) as their first dedicated safety director. The owner has acted as the safety contact up to this point, so I now have the pleasure of building an actual safety program that goes beyond just maintaining files, from scratch! This has been particularly challenging because I have spent the last 7 years of my life as an Automotive Fleet Manager for UPS freight and SEFL, with limited exposure to DOT regulations. So, If anyone has any advice on how to build up a strong safety program from scratch, it would be much appreciated and I'm looking forward to being part of the community.
Happy New Year!
My name is Ashley, and I am in HR/DOT Safety Compliance for Coca Cola.

Hello all. I’m an 18 year veteran of the business with 12 of those years as a safety pro. I’ve had 2 employers in all those years. 2 years ago I jumped from #2 in command of safety with a large motor carrier, to a family owned 50 truck fleet that desperately needed a safety rebuild. I enjoy getting down in the weeds and doing the work versus overseeing the folks doing the work. I often get behind the wheel and drove 50,000 miles last year and have 700,000 career safe miles. When the safety director goes trucking, your drivers notice and see you as a resource. Enjoy the podcast and look forward to networking here.
