Hi, my name is Matt, I just started working for a small (under 20 trucks) but growing trucking company (Kole Trucking) as their first dedicated safety director. The owner has acted as the safety contact up to this point, so I now have the pleasure of building an actual safety program that goes beyond just maintaining files, from scratch! This has been particularly challenging because I have spent the last 7 years of my life as an Automotive Fleet Manager for UPS freight and SEFL, with limited exposure to DOT regulations. So, If anyone has any advice on how to build up a strong safety program from scratch, it would be much appreciated and I'm looking forward to being part of the community.
